Itanagar, Mar 30: Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) appealed the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to implement the “Freedom of Religion Act 1978” to protect the Indigenous religions of Arunachal Pradesh in letter and spirit.
Speaking at a Peace Rally, organized by Rangfraa Faith Promotion Society (RFPS) at Changlang to commemorate the 5th year of the Great 3rd coming of Rangfraa, President of AVP Pratik Potom said that there are some agencies who want to repeal the Act. But the need of the hour is to make rules to implement it more intensely as the alien religions are flourishing at the cost of Indigenous religions.

Narrating the significance of the Day, Er. L.Khimun, Secretary General of RFPS stated that we the Rangfraits are not against any religion and believe that all religions can lead the man towards the attainment of spiritual solace.

New Marketing Outlet for Nirjuli
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: In order to improve the access of the farmers to market, NABARD has sanctioned a rural marketing outlet at Nirjuli Village, under Naharlagun Block in Papum Pare.
The outlet has been sanctioned under its Rural Haat Scheme to NN Charitable Society, a local NGO based in Sagalee.
The proposal was submitted to NABARD Arunachal RO by the NGO through the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
NN Charitable has been working with NABARD in implementing various developmental
schemes like Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Farmers Clubs and
SHGs. The proposed rural haat will serve the farmers and artisans of 15 villages
who will have access to market for their products from farm and non-
NN Charitable Society which is the Project holder under the scheme will start construction of the marketing outlet having permanent roofing with toilet, drinking water and parking facilities within three months from the date of sanction. The NGO will also ensure that the market outlet becomes self sufficient within two years after completion of construction.

Steps towards implementation of NICRA project
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: A team agro scientists of ICAR Basar centre has visited different Jhum and WRC fields to collect soil sample for testing and GPS mapping on March 28 and 29 last. This is the first steps towards implementation of the project, namely, “National Initiatives on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA)” in Padi, Chisi and Dali villages under Daring Circle of West Siang district from this year.
The team comprises of A Kirankumar Singh, SMS (Agronomy), KVK West Siang, Basar, Goutom Bhagawati, Technical Officer (Agromet), ICAR, Basar, Wangnem Rekhung, Programme Assistant (Soil Science) and A Robindro Singh, Fieldman. Altogether the team collected 102 soil samples and these samples will be tested for 12 different parameters to categorise the fertility status of the soils. Accordingly the KVK West Siang will take up the necessary steps for amendment of the soils as per the recommended standards and practices to be followed in these villages.

Over 752 patients benefitted from Health Mela
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: Upper Siang District Health Society organized a two days Health Mela with the motto ‘to provide service at the doorstep’ under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) at District Hospital, Yingkiong on March 25 and 26 last.
Over 752 patients were treated out of which 3 cases of Hernioplasty and 8 cases of appendectomy during the two day health camp. Ultrasound scanning for suspected appendicitis were done on 102 patients. The Health Mela was conducted by a team of specialist doctors including Dr. Tarik Doke, Surgical Specialist, Dr, Gagam Dai, Pediatrician, Dr. Josep Tekseng, Anaesthesist, Dr. Tayi Taloh, Medicine, Dr. Obang Modi, DS, Celina Clinic, Yingkiong and Senior Medical Officers, medical officers and staff of the district hospital.
Earlier, Upper Subansiri deputy commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain while inaugurating the Health Mela described it as a great opportunity for all citizens residing in the district and urged them to avail the services of specialist doctors in such a remote area.

SEPPA, Mar 30: The Head Gaon Bura (HGB) of Lapung village, Rangno Lapung died due to prolonged illness and old age at his native village Lapung on March 28. He was 85 and father of Norbu Sonam, former youth coordinator, Pradesh Congress Committee and former APPSU leader. Late Rangno is also survived by two daughters.
Late Rangno had worked as WC mate in the govt. deptt. Seeing his dedication and sincerity towards his work, the govt. had appointed him as Gaon Bura of Lapung village in 13th August, 1964, and subsequently promoted to Head Gaon Bura (HGB) of the village in the latter stage.
During his 47 years as a GB, Lt Rangno Lapung had solved numerous cases of criminal and civil nature besides other relevant cases.
Meanwhile the Lapung Welfare Society (LWS) has condoled the demise of Late Rangno Lapung and termed it as great loss to the society. KVIB organizes awareness camps, exhibition on PMEGP
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) in collaboration with District Industries Center, Deptt. of Industries and Asst Director, Textile & Handicrafts organized a series of awareness camps and district level exhibition on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) at West Siang district from March 27 to 29 last.
The programmes were held at Kombo Pomte, Kombo Tarsu, Jirdin, Logum Jini and Aalo town while the three days exhibition were organized in the hall of District Industries Centre. All the programmes were attended by large numbers of villagers, unemployed youths and members of Panchayat Raj institutions.

NEW DELHI, Mar 30: Ten additional judges were on Wednesday elevated as permanent judges in the Madras high court even as four others were appointed as additional judges.

T Raja, R Mala, Aruna Jagadeesan and G M Akbar Ali have been appointed as additional judges of the Madras High Court, a law ministry statement said here.
With fresh appointments and elevations, the total strength of permanent judges have gone up to 43 as against the approved strength of 44. Similarly, the number of additional judges now stands at 20.

Govt urged to check destruction of forest resources
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: The Borun Panchayat Youth Welfare Association has urged the state Govt, particularly the forest and environment departed to implement its policies to protect and preserve the rich natural resources of the state.
Pointing out the rampant destruction of forest in Daria hills, the Association said destruction of forest resources for jhum cultivation has severally affected the ecological balance of the area. Our natural resources should not be compromised in the name of development, it said and called upon the organisations and concern department to take positive steps to prevent rampant destruction of forest resources.
DAIF appeals for communal harmony
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: Dibang Adi Intellectual Forum (DAIF) has appealed both the communities in Lower Dibang Valley district to maintain peace and communal harmony for their mutual benefits.
In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Lower Dibang Valley district, the DAIF also appealed to the elders and leaders of both the communities to work together in bringing back normalcy to the district. “Efforts will be made by the union for peace and communal harmony and the same is expected from the various organizations of Adi and Idu Mishmi communities, DAIF said in its letter to DC.
It also appealed to the villagers who are being temporarily sheltered at Rekho and other places at Roing to return back to their native villages at Ithili and Idili. Security personnel should be provided/retained at Balek, Kebang, Ithili and Idili till the normalcy return, the Forum added.
The blame game and complaints of the student unions of both the communities should not be entertained and also no arrest of the student union leaders of both the communities basing on unsubstantial complaints against each other should be made , the Forum added.

We appreciate your untiring effort to bring all round developmental in our state.
But as we observed since 4 -
It is known that student leaders are getting power projects and SPA fund.
It might be a good gesture from your side but it is spoiling the upcoming young and energetic youths.
Instead of funding student organizations, you are requested to fund some of talented youths of the state so that they can take up productive activities.
If some good steps are not initiated now, then it will be too late to control the system because everyone wants easy earning.
I personally do hope you will take good step to discourage the prevailing system and shall take good step for the future generation of the state.

A matter of serious concern

Apropos to an article 'Around 2000 Illegal Appointments in Government Departments Unearthed' published on 28th March'11.
I, being an educated and unemployed youth would like to thank Save Arunachal Forum for unearthing the illegal appointments through Right To Information Act.
It is matter of serious concern that such illegal appointments are being practiced.
It really dishearten the educated and children of poor peoples who don't have monetary power nor political backup.
Hence, the authorities of concerned departments are requested to remove all the illegal appointees immediately and advertise the vacant posts in due course of time.

Laxity will embolden the criminals
Dear Editor,
This has a reference to the obscene video clip made by some policemen at PS Daporijo.
A police station is for protection of rights, life and dignity of the citizens. But, here it was reduced to place of inhuman atrocities by the men in uniform! Every policeman is expected to set personal example of discipline and lawfulness.
Many policemen behave as if they are above the law and have misconceptions that the law is meant for civilians or the common people only. It is strange that a person who committed the heinous crime succeeded in obtaining bail! Any laxity in investigation and prosecution will definitely embolden the criminals.

I thank Tom Simai for enlightening us with the recent SSR on CHR. It is really a matter of serious concern and consequences that is bound to be a catastrophic reality in the state if the alarming intrusions of the CHR are not checked at the earliest.
Let us not forget the issue of Bangladeshi population growth in Assam. Muslim population
in Assam has grown by an alarming rate of 75% in 1991 from what it was in 1971,which
according to studies, has been due to the illegal migration of the Bangladeshis.
Today six of the 24 districts of Assam are ‘Bangladeshi’ dominated ones. More appalling

My personal appreciation goes to Dr. Egul Padung, who along with his associates initiated and conducted a two day seminar and research on Adi 'Aabang origin and its evolution'.
Broadly speaking, these kinds of works should continue time to time on our tradition and culture.
The importance of our tradition and culture are still in the subconscious level of maximum populace, due to which we are missing the precious Aabangs, Miris, Ponungs, Baris, Khebangs, festivities and other arts like Gashe pooreng, Galub pooreng, Gongghang, Tapung, Pherii Tukhi, Pughi Biarkhi etc. besides forgetting Adi language.

Dear Editor,
For the last 5/6 yrs we have been getting our stipend but now they say that our college Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is just a learning centre and so we won't get our stipend. If it is so then why and how they've been providing us our stipend for so many years?
I believe it wasn’t from their pockets.
The students from other states studying in SMU are still getting their stipend. As compared to ours, they get a lot more.
A BBA 3rd yr used to get Rs 4290 only.
Now the authorities are not willing to even give that much to us. What should we do?

Vulgar Advertisements
Dear Editor,
I would like to bring to notice about some vulgar advertisements that are appearing in the Capital such as AXE deodorant advertisement. It is one thing to have such advertisements in TV and quite a different thing to see them on the road side. I appeal to the company/dealer to replace such hoardings with decent and thought provoking advertisements. I hope the dealer/company will respect the sentiments of people and act immediately. In trying to get the attention of the people, we should not violate the conscience of people. If they want to attract more people's attention, why can't they go for more nude and more indecent words for their advertisements? It is quite sad that some of the advertisers want to fill their pockets by burying all ethics. Along with freedom there should be some ethical code for advertisement industry. Is there someone in the government who looks after such things? Please do something.

Fund misuse alleged
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: All Chambang Area Youth Forum has alleged misuse of Rs 15 lakh fund meant for celebrating the Penjik Chollo Festival at Chambang.
The Forum has urged the state government to initiate action against the tourism department and others involved in the matter and also seize the trading license of one M/s Ascant India Company of Ziro, Lower Subansiri district in this regard.
NEDWS condemns MMS scandal
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: The North East Development Welfare Society (NEDWS) has condemned the MMS scandal at Daporijo Police station as inhumane act and violation of human rights.
The Society appealed to Govt to take drastic action and terminate all the police personnel involved in the scandal from their service.
Association oppose extension of retirement age
ITANAGARN Mar 30: All Arunachal Contractors’ Welfare Association taking serious note on the move for enhancement of service period of government servants in various departments of the state, appealed the state government not to extend the service tenure.
It said that the extension of service period will deprive the job avenue of the local people and there is very chances of misuse of public money and official position during the extended period.
Kaso chief guest at Mopin

Student's death condoled
ITANAGAR, Mar 30: Taniang Youth Welfare Association (TYWA) has condoled the sudden demise of Song Tama, a class X student of Dr. Ambedkar Memorial School, Itanagar on March 26 last. The association prayed to almighty to rest the departed soul in peace in heaven and also conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

ITANAGAR, Mar 30: The people of Mebo area mourned the untimely demise of Olik Darin, GPM, Kiyit village, Mebo, East Siang, on March 29, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Darin (52) is survived by three sons and many daughters.
HIs last rites was performed at his native village Kiyit yesterday.
Meanwhile, All Hija Welfare Society has condoled the death of its senior member Kime Tagur on March 29 and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
